BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless' Music Unleashed Concert Series kicks off the highly anticipated Fall tour season with Green Day. Green Day will begin their tour today in Ft. Worth, Texas. The band will be touring in support of their #1 album American Idiot (www.greendayconcerts.com).

Green Day is the latest artist to join the Verizon Wireless' Music Unleashed Concert Series. The tour events allow fans to legally personalize and share the mobile music they love with other fans, friends and the band themselves. At each concert, Verizon Wireless gives fans innovative options to participate in the tour through contests for remixing and mashing the bands' songs, wireless downloads, picture and text blogging, live chats with the band, and the chance to win tickets to meet the band.

"The Music Unleashed Concert Series has been very successful for Verizon Wireless, attracting more and more of the growing mobile youth market," said Bill Stone, vice president of marketing for Verizon Wireless. "The concert series was designed to encourage our customers to not only listen but participate in the latest music. They get to see the value of Verizon Wireless' nationwide network in an additional medium that extends the wireless experience beyond voice to the music they love. It's working better than we ever imagined and concert participants are having a blast with the technology."

About Green Day Contests and Tour

Verizon Wireless' Music Unleashed Concert Series kicks off the Green Day "American Idiot" tour on October 19, 2004. Fans can win tickets by playing a TXT2WIN® TRIVIA game on their Verizon Wireless phones. Fans can answer trivia questions about the band through their phone. Winners will be notified through their phone as well. Five winners in each city will win a pair of tickets to the concert and the opportunity to meet Green Day after the show. TXT Messaging charges will apply. Fans can also enter online at www.greendayconcerts.com.

Fans are also encouraged to enter a skill-based contest by remixing Green Day's newest single "American Idiot" online. Each time fans make and e-mail a remix, they will be entered into a daily lottery drawing where one finalist will be selected each day. From the pool of remix finalists, Green Day will choose the winning remix and make one fan a star. The winner and a guest will not only fly to the concert in Los Angeles on November 23, 2004 for red carpet treatment, but also receive a $2,500 cash prize in recognition of their star-making music remix. The prize-winning remix will debut at the concert as well as be produced as a ringtone and made available for the world to download as the "Official Remix of the American Idiot tour" ringtone. Participants must be 13 and older to enter any of the Green Day sweepstakes or Remix Contests.

At each concert, the Verizon Wireless TXT2Screen application will entertain fans. Before the bands' performance at each concert fans can engage in the TXT2Screen activity where they are able to send a TXT Message stating 'why they should meet the band' and two to four lucky winners will be chosen to meet the band that night.

After each concert fans are able to visit www.GreenDayConcerts.com to look for their concert pictures, meet-n-greet pictures, tour updates, band updates and exclusive downloads. The www.greendayconcerts.com site will link to www.verizonwireless.com/getitnow where exclusive downloadable ringtones, voice tones and much more are available. Most importantly, for the first time ever Verizon Wireless will make live audio ringtones available from concert content recorded at two Green Day concerts and will be purchased through Verizon Wireless' suite of Green Day Ringtones.
