Wireless Phone Users in Muskegon, Michigan Receive Improved Service From Enhanced Digital Network

MUSKEGON, MI — To stay ahead of its growing customer base and demand for its voice and data services, Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Muskegon that improves the company's digital network coverage in the town of Twin Lake, along Michigan Road 120 and the surrounding area.

The new cell site increases the strength of the Verizon Wireless network signal. As a result, Verizon Wireless customers will experience fewer dropped calls and clearer reception while talking on their wireless phones, handling data applications (such as TXT and Picture Messaging) or downloading games and ringtones with the company's Get It Now® services.

Verizon Wireless also has upgraded other cell sites in Muskegon to further improve wireless service for its customers. With these enhancements, Verizon Wireless has increased its network capacity, enabling more residents and travelers in the following areas to use the network concurrently:

• Silver Lake
• Shelby
• Norton Shores
• North Muskegon
• U.S. Highway 31 and Michigan Road 46, covering the northern portion of Business 31 to downtown Muskegon
• Pigeon Hill Resort, covering the southern part of Business 31 to downtown Muskegon
• Fruitport Township
• Dalton Township

"During the past year in Muskegon, our customer base has grown and the average number of minutes our customers use their wireless phones has increased, resulting in a 40 percent growth in volume on our network," said Greg Haller, president—Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless. These improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase capacity and augment the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Michigan and across the country. Nationally each year, the company invests about $1 billion every 90 days to improve and expand what is already the most extensive wireless network in the United States.
