WOBURN, MA — The results are in, and for the fourth year in a row, the Verizon Wireless 'Kids In Need Holiday Drive was a huge success. Verizon Wireless asked its customers, employees, and the public to donate new, unwrapped toys, games, and books at each of its 56 Communications Stores throughout New England and at South Station in Boston, through a partnership with the train station's management company, Equity Office.

Nearly 3,000 toys, games, and books were donated during the holiday drive. Verizon Wireless organizes this outreach program as a part of the company's on-going commitment to mitigate the effects of domestic violence on families nationwide.

"Once again the generosity of our customers, employees, and others who contributed to our annual drive was overwhelming," said Bob Stott, president of the New England Region for Verizon Wireless. "We are thrilled to be able to brighten the day of a child by providing gifts."

Through its HopeLineSM program, Verizon Wireless puts wireless phones, airtime and voice mailboxes to work to aide victims of domestic violence. The company understands domestic violence is an epidemic that devastates neighbors, friends and co-workers, and dedicates its resources to both the prevention of domestic violence and the life-rebuilding process for survivors. As a result of HopeLine and related phone recycling programs Verizon Wireless has organized since 1995, more than two million no-longer-used wireless phones have been collected to benefit domestic violence victims, prevention programs and advocacy groups across the country. No-longer-used wireless phones are accepted at all Verizon Wireless stores year-round.
