ST. LOUIS, MO — In response to the growing demand for the company's voice and data products and services, Verizon Wireless has expanded its presence in the City of St. Louis with a new Communications Store in Southtown Centre.

"We are excited to open our company's first Communications Store in the City of St. Louis," said Mark Crumpton, president-Kansas/Missouri Region, Verizon Wireless. "South City residents and businesses now will have convenient access to a state-of-the-art store in their own neighborhood. We are confident our customers will be pleased with the quality and level of the products and service offered by Verizon Wireless."

The official grand opening celebration of the new Verizon Wireless Communications Store, located at 4647 Chippewa St., began at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, with a "wire cutting" ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by Christi Whitaker, store manager — Verizon Wireless, along with John Diefenbach of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association and City of St. Louis Alderman Stephen Gregali.

Verizon Wireless celebrated the addition of its first St. Louis City store by presenting a $1,500 contribution to Lydia's House. A local organization, Lydia's House offers transitional housing for abused women and children, providing the time and support necessary for victims to move from a temporary stay in an emergency shelter to safe, independent, permanent housing.

"Our mission at Lydia's House is to help end the cycle of domestic violence by offering a place of healing and a voice of hope for abused women and their children," said Dawn Stringfield, executive director of Lydia's House. "Donations like this one from Verizon Wireless continue to help us realize that vision."

To mark the store's grand opening, Verizon Wireless will offer consumers a $15 discount off any equipment or accessory purchase with a new two-year agreement.

The new Southtown store offers an expansive array of wireless products and services, including the latest phones, accessories and data services such as Picture Messaging, TXT messaging and Get It Now® downloadable ring tones and games.

The store also provides a HopeLineSM phone collection bin where anyone may donate no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories. Through the company's award-winning HopeLine program, most of the donated phones and equipment are refurbished and sold with proceeds going to support domestic violence awareness and prevention programs. Any remaining phones are recycled in an environmentally friendly way.

Managed by Christi Whitaker, the Verizon Wireless Communications Store in Southtown, will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.—7 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.—6 p.m.; and Sunday, noon—5 p.m.
