FORT WAYNE, IN — Verizon Wireless announced today that it will contribute $10 for each wireless phone donated by consumers to its HopeLineSM program to Voices Not Victims during a special month-long drive. Voices Not Victims, located on the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne campus, is a nonprofit student organization that focuses on domestic violence education, prevention and awareness.

During the drive, phones and accessories-in any condition and from any wireless service provider-can be donated from Monday, April 18, through Saturday, May 14, at seven locations on and near the campus, including two area Verizon Wireless Communications Stores.

Through its nationally recognized HopeLine program, Verizon Wireless collects no-longer-used wireless phones and equipment. Most of the donated phones and equipment are refurbished and sold with proceeds going to support domestic violence awareness and prevention programs. Any remaining phones are recycled in an environmentally friendly way.

"Over the past decade, HopeLine has grown significantly and along the way has helped so many victims-keeping them safe and helping them rebuild their lives," said Greg Haller, president—Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. "Fort Wayne consumers have played a significant role in the success of our HopeLine program and with their continued support, we're confident this drive will be a success."

Voices Not Victims provides peer group support for students, faculty, staff and community members who currently are dealing with domestic violence or are survivors of a past episode. The funds donated by Verizon Wireless will be used by Voices Not Victims to help victims and educate people about domestic violence through a variety of activities.
