ORANGEBURG, NY — Beginning today, Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, will hold an online job fair designed to add more than 300 customer-facing employees to its New York Metro area workforce this year to meet the growing demand for the company's wireless voice and data products and services.

Among the new full and part-time employees being sought are English-Spanish speaking candidates to fill positions in company Communications Stores located in areas with large Hispanic populations including Manhattan and the Bronx in New York City, and Secaucus, Jersey City and Union in Northern New Jersey. In addition to retail sales representatives, supervisors and managers, other positions available include telemarketing representatives and business sales account executives.

"Customer satisfaction is our number one priority at Verizon Wireless," said Annette Lowther, human resources director for the company's New York Metro region. "Offering Spanish-language services, including specially trained bilingual sales and service representatives, improves our ability to meet the needs of the area's Spanish-language population, which is the second largest in the country."

Lowther also said the company is looking for bilingual employees fluent in Russian and English to meet the needs of Brooklyn's growing Russian population.

"Our goal is to make all customers feel comfortable doing business with us and to help non-English-speaking customers get the best value from their Verizon Wireless products and services," she said.

The company offers highly competitive salaries and benefits that include health care coverage that begins on the first day of employment, 401(k) dollar for dollar match up to 6% of income, profit-sharing, tuition reimbursement for continuing education and long-term incentive plans. Employees also can take advantage of numerous opportunities for career advancement.

Job requirements include one-to-two years of retail sales experience. A college degree is highly desirable.
