BEDMINSTER, NJ — Dads across America take heart. A surge in wireless calling on Father's Day could indicate dads may be getting almost as much love this Sunday as moms do on Mother's Day. Verizon Wireless reports that a significant sampling of calls on its nationwide wireless network — including local, long distance and IN Calling — showed volumes up eight percent on Father's Day last year over the average Sunday. Call volumes were up closer to nine percent on Mother's Day 2004, putting a little crimp in the old cliché that dads don't get the kind of attention moms do on their special day.

So if history is any guide, many of Verizon Wireless' 45.5 million customers will be reaching for their mobile phones again this year to send best wishes to dads and grandfathers from coast to coast on their special day. Whether dad is across the country or just next door, Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, is poised and ready to vault the bar when handling the anticipated higher volume of Father's Day calls. With a steady stream of network upgrades and new cell sites, Verizon Wireless never stops working to enhance its network signal and call capacity, allowing customers to enjoy the nation's most reliable wireless network while talking on their wireless phones.

Verizon Wireless has regularly invested more than $4 billion nationally each year since its inception — and more than $5 billion last year alone — to expand and upgrade its nationwide wireless network. The company's most reliable wireless network claim is based on the network studies completed by real-life test engineers (some of whom are dads) who conduct more than four million calls annually on the Verizon Wireless network and other national wireless carriers' networks while traveling more than one million miles across the nation. *
