CHANDLER, AZ — Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has installed new technology to enable more calls from more places on the Arizona State University campus and add a new dimension to Sun Devil games. Two new digital cell sites are now providing additional coverage and capacity on the main campus in Tempe. Verizon Wireless has also installed new technology to enable interactive big screen TXT-blogging during Sun Devil football and basketball games.

"College students increasingly rely on their wireless phones to stay in touch with what's going on with people and things they care about," said Tami Erwin, regional president, Verizon Wireless. "Verizon Wireless has upgraded the network around ASU so students can stay in touch with friends and family, and be among those in the know about the latest news, games and information."

Get It Now® and V CAST - the nation's first wireless broadband multimedia service for consumers-make it easy to download and view high-quality video clips from major news, sports and entertainment outlets and play 3D games right on a V CAST-capable handset.

In addition to the new cell sites on the ASU campus, Verizon Wireless, the exclusive wireless provider for Arizona State University Athletics, has provided the technology for TXT-2-Screen blogging before each Sun Devil football and basketball game beginning with the football home opener on September 1. Before each game, fans will see a message displayed on the video board screen inviting them to send a text message to a number. Messages appear in front of the entire audience within seconds after they are sent.

"This TXT-2-Screen technology helps Sun Devil fans create pre-game entertainment for everyone in the stadium. Fans can show support for the team and the University, send score predictions and even communicate with other game-goers," added Erwin.

Verizon Wireless' investment in its wireless network in Arizona totaled more than $75 million in 2004 alone and is part of the company's commitment to offer customers the nation's most reliable wireless voice network. In its most recent study, J.D. Power and Associates ranked the Verizon Wireless network highest in wireless call quality in five regions covering the District of Columbia and 43 states, including Arizona.
