EAST HARTFORD, CT — University of Connecticut students preparing for the fall semester are learning one thing fast: keeping in touch with friends and family back home during the school year just keeps getting better on America's most reliable wireless network. Verizon Wireless recently installed a new cell site to increase coverage and capacity on the UCONN campus along Route 195 and North Eagleville Road.

Although the beginning of the school year is filled with classes, activities and new friendships, students can rest assured they can be kept abreast of the latest news, games and information. Students can browse content from Get It Now® and V CAST - the nation's first wireless broadband multimedia service for consumers that allows them to view high-quality video clips from major news, sports and entertainment outlets, play 3D games and download rich multimedia content.

"College students are increasingly relying on their wireless phones to keep in touch with friends and family back home," said Bob Stott, Verizon Wireless New England Regional President. "Verizon Wireless has upgraded the network around UConn so students can share the college experience with everyone back home, no matter how many miles separate them."

Verizon Wireless' 'most reliable network' claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "can you hear me now" national advertising campaign. These engineers conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling over 100,000 miles a month in specially equipped, company-owned test vehicles. If you are a member of the media interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your local Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact Marcia Simon at 860-399-0191.
