WOBURN, MA — To stay ahead of continued strong customer demand for its popular voice, high-speed EV-DO broadband data and V CAST entertainment services, Verizon Wireless New England today announced plans to hire an additional 150 full-time employees to staff its retail and customer service operations. Additionally, the company is seeking to hire 200 temporary employees in its Communications stores across the region to support increased retail activity through the holiday season.

In the last year, Verizon Wireless has expanded its reach in New England with new standalone and in-mall kiosks for a total of nearly 100 retail sales locations from Connecticut to Maine, including some 30 Verizon Wireless Stores in Circuit City. To properly staff the increasing number of retail outlets, Verizon Wireless is conducting its second regional hiring effort this year to place both retail sales and customer service professionals. Once the round of permanent hiring concludes, the company will have successfully filled, in one year, more than 450 new positions. "To properly care for our customers as demand for our products and service continues to grow, Verizon Wireless has launched another large-scale hiring effort in the region," said Bob Stott, New England Region president, Verizon Wireless. "Interest in our BroadbandAccess high speed data network and our V CAST entertainment service has created a need for more trained staff in our expanding retail distribution. Our aggressive hiring continues to make our company one of New England's most prominent employers."

Verizon Wireless consistently ranks as one of the nation's best places to work primarily due to employee-friendly practices. In 2005, the company was named one of Working Mother magazine's "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" for the fifth year in a row. Health Magazine also named the company one of 10 U.S. employers helping women balance professional and personal responsibilities. In two other annual surveys this year, Verizon Wireless has been recognized once again for the quality of its employee training programs by Training magazine, and as one of the top workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals by IDG's Computerworld magazine.

Verizon Wireless recently reported its 13th consecutive quarter of double digit year-over-year revenue growth. The company added 1.9 million net new customer additions during the third quarter-- more than double the customer growth of its largest competitor. The company also continues its industry leadership in customer loyalty and retention, reporting customer churn of 1.3%.
