MILWAUKEE, WI — Verizon Wireless has installed a new cell site in each of the communities of Cambridge and Fort Atkinson that expands coverage and increases capacity, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive TXT and Picture Messages, and download games and ring tones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new cell sites improve Verizon Wireless' voice and data network in the following areas:

  • on the south side of Fort Atkinson and along U.S. Highway 26 between Fort Atkinson and Janesville;
  • within Cambridge and along U.S. Highway 12, west to U.S. Highway 73; along State Highway 134, north to the Town of London; and along U.S. Highway 18, east to State Highway 89.

"These new cell sites reflect our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless," said Tracy Nolan, president—Wisconsin/Illinois Region, Verizon Wireless.

Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry. During the third quarter of 2005, only 1.3 percent of its customers disconnected their service, which is well below the industry average.

"The value we offer our customers is closely tied to our industry-leading customer retention," Nolan said. "Wireless consumers today understand that value is not defined by price alone. A major reason our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us is because we offer the nation's most reliable network."

The new cell sites in Cambridge and Fort Atkinson are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Wisconsin and across the country. Nationally, the company has invested $25 billion over the past five years to improve and expand what is already the most reliable wireless network in the United States. In 2005, Verizon Wireless invested more than $30 million in Wisconsin in 2005 to maintain and enhance its network for customers.
