MORRISTOWN, NJ — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for residents, commuters and visitors in Passaic County, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with a new cell site.

The new Passaic cell site will improve network coverage and capacity in Nutley, including the areas surrounding Route 3, Allwood Road and Bloomfield Avenue.

Verizon Wireless invested nearly $400 million in enhancements to its New York network in 2005 and more than $25 billion across the nation in the past five years to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company's voice and data services, like two-way TXT Messaging, Picture Messaging and V CAST service which brings TV, music and other multimedia services to wireless phones over the company's high speed broadband wireless network.

Demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during 2005 as the company set new records for net new customers — 7.5 million — and for customer loyalty, posting the lowest rate of customer turnover in the industry. Verizon Wireless now serves 51.3 million customers nationwide.

"Our New Jersey customers are among the most demanding and tech savvy in the nation," said Charles Hand, president of the company's New York Metro Region. "While our competitors focus on integrating divergent networks and image makeovers, Verizon Wireless continues to efficiently invest in network enhancements to deliver the reliable and innovative services our customers want."

Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess data network is the largest high-speed wireless broadband network in the U.S. BroadbandAccess service, now available in much of New Jersey and nationwide to about 150 million Americans, provides customers with Internet access, access to corporate intranets and e-mail via laptop computers and personal digital assistants.

The company's 'most reliable network' claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign. The engineers conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks while traveling over 100,000 miles a month nationwide in specially equipped, company-owned quality test vehicles.*

*Editors Note: Test Man Ride-Along Program
Specially-equipped Verizon Wireless test vehicles simultaneously test the networks of six wireless providers using a mobile laptop computer to generate calls. If you are interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your local Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact Lynette Viviani at 973-283-9228.
