WILMINGTON, DE — Verizon Wireless has named Paris Street manager of its retail location in Brandywine. In this position, Mr. Street will be responsible for customer service, retail sales, inventory, merchandising and employee training for the store, located at 4407 Concord Pike in the Concord Square Shopping Center. He will also oversee the Brandywine location's HopeLine®, wireless phone collection program. Through HopeLine, Verizon Wireless collects no-longer-used wireless phones, regardless of make, model or carrier, to be refurbished or recycled in an environmentally-friendly way. Proceeds are donated to domestic violence prevention advocacy groups or used to purchase wireless phones with free airtime for use by survivors. Phone donations are accepted during store business hours, Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. — 9 p.m. and Sundays, 11:00 a.m. — 6 p.m.

Previously, Street managed the company's retail store in Dover. An employee of Verizon Wireless for eight years, he began his career as a sales representative at the Dover store before being promoted to supervisor and assistant manager. A Kent County resident, Street earned a Bachelor of Business degree in Administration Management from American Intercontinental University.

Demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in Wilmington and across the country continued during 2005 as the company set new records for customer growth.

For the year, the company added 7.5 million net new customers, and more than 2 million net customer additions during the fourth quarter alone, an industry record. Verizon Wireless also maintained its position as the nation's wireless leader in customer loyalty (highest customer retention and lowest turnover rate). In the fourth quarter of 2005, the company posted a churn rate of 1.2%, well below the rate reported by the other national wireless carriers for the quarter.
