PITTSBURGH, PA — Drivers clutching their wallets and purses in frustration as they pass their local gas station may want to reach for their wireless phones instead. Verizon Wireless, owner of the nation's most reliable wireless network, is now offering its customers a service called FuelFinder, something that will ease the pain at the pumps.

"Our customers can download a simple software program directly onto their handsets," said Roger Tang, president—Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "Then, they can begin tapping into a wealth of information to find the best deal on gas wherever and whenever they want."

Created by MobileGates, a leading provider of location-based services for wireless users, FuelFinder enables customers to shop for the best gas prices by entering zip code information. In moments, they receive a list of 10 nearby locations and the corresponding daily gas prices. FuelFinder also allows users to view a map and retrieve an address for each gas station. The program has access to more than 90 percent of the gas stations in the United States.
