MORRISTOWN, NJ — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for residents, commuters and visitors in Somerset County, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has expanded its network with a new cell site.

The new Somerset County cell site will improve network coverage and capacity in the Basking Ridge area, along Finley Avenue between Morristown Road and Lyons Point.

Verizon Wireless invested $2 billion to enhance its New York Metro area network and more than $30 billion across the nation in the past six years to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company's voice and data services, like two-way TXT Messaging, Picture Messaging and V CAST service which brings TV, music and other multimedia services to wireless phones over the company's high speed broadband wireless network.

"Reliable networks are not built overnight," said Charles Hand, president of the company's New York Metro Region. "Our New Jersey customers are among the most demanding and tech savvy in the nation and Verizon Wireless continues to efficiently invest in network enhancements to deliver the reliable and innovative services customers want."

Demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the first quarter as the company added 1.7 million net new customers. Verizon Wireless now serves 53 million customers nationwide. Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess data network is the largest high-speed wireless broadband network in the U.S. BroadbandAccess service, now available in much of New Jersey and nationwide to more than 150 million Americans, provides customers with Internet access, access to corporate intranets and e-mail via laptop computers and personal digital assistants.

Verizon Wireless also deploys a coast-to-coast fleet of test vehicles managed by Verizon Wireless engineers who continuously test the network and identify areas for improvement. The engineers conduct more than four million calls annually on the Verizon Wireless network and other national wireless carriers' networks while traveling more than one million miles across the nation.
