BASKING RIDGE, NJ and BENTONVILLE, AR — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, and Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT), the world's largest retailer, announced today the expanded availability of Verizon Wireless' products and services will include monthly contract service plans. Now available at 1,950 locations from coast to coast, the companies plan to offer Verizon Wireless' products and services at an additional 50 Wal-Mart locations by the end of the year. The availability of Verizon Wireless' products and services at Wal-Mart follows Wal-Mart's March introduction of INpulse, Verizon Wireless' pay-as-you-go prepay service.

Wal-Mart customers may choose from top-of-the-line wireless phones to go with their Verizon Wireless monthly service plans, including the LG VX5200 and the V CAST Music-enabled VX8300; Motorola V325 and the new multimedia RAZR V3m; and Samsung SCH-a930 V CAST Music-enabled phone.

Customers who purchase the Samsung SCH-a930 with a qualifying new two-year customer agreement at Wal-Mart will receive a free Samsung Bluetooth® headset and a free V CAST Music Essentials Kit. The V CAST Music Essentials Kit includes music manager software, USB cable and stereo headset for V CAST Music and helps customers transfer music from their computers to their phones.

Wal-Mart employees will offer Verizon Wireless products and services from their existing wireless service center, the Connection Center, within the Home Entertainment department of these Wal-Mart locations.

"Wal-Mart is a retail powerhouse and we are uniting the strong distribution of Wal-Mart with the best product line in the wireless industry," said John Colaiuti, vice president of national distribution for Verizon Wireless. "Our relationship with Wal-Mart is part of Verizon Wireless' ongoing effort to meet our customers where they shop. With the expanded product line-up that includes monthly service plans, Wal-Mart customers can now purchase our award-winning wireless products and services at their one-stop-shopping location."

"At Wal-Mart, we continue to build merchandise selections to meet the needs of today's consumer," said Laura Phillips, Wal-Mart vice president - entertainment/wireless division. "With the expansion of Verizon Wireless offerings, our customers have more options available to them for an incredible value."

Verizon Wireless offers calling plans for every budget, plus a wide array of wireless services that include TXT and PIX Messaging, V CAST, Verizon Wireless' video and 3D game service, and V CAST Music — the most comprehensive, over-the-air mobile music download service in the nation that runs on Verizon Wireless' broadband network. Customers can also access Get It Now®, a virtual shopping mall of services offering hundreds of applications for download including games, ring tones, productivity tools and more.

Verizon Wireless is the nation's wireless leader in customer loyalty, based on company retention and turnover rates published by the largest wireless providers. In the first quarter of this year, Verizon Wireless beat all competitors with its industry-leading customer turnover rate — 1.18% — the lowest in the history of the U.S. wireless industry. Verizon Wireless has posted the best retention rates among large national wireless carriers for the past year and a half.

Verizon Wireless invests heavily in its network to maintain its reputation as the most reliable wireless network in the country. The company has invested more than $30 billion nationally in the last six years - $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed — to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.
