FREMONT, CA — Residents and visitors in Fremont are now experiencing increased wireless coverage and capacity in the area, thanks to Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless expanded its network with two new cell sites to provide improved digital coverage and increased capacity in the following areas:

  • Mowry Ave, with benefits extending from Peralta to Mission, and from Palomares to Palmas
  • Diablo Valley College campus on Golf Club Rd., with benefits extending from Morelo Ave to Highway 680; between Chilipancingo Blvd and the residential area between Taylor and Gregory Lane.

"Verizon Wireless leads in customer loyalty* for a very good reason--customers know they can count on our network reliability," said Rich Garwood, regional president of Verizon Wireless. "During the last five years, we've invested nearly $4 billion in our wireless network throughout the state of California, so the company can stay ahead of the increasing demand for our products and services."

Nationwide, Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion during the last six years. On average, that amount represents $5 billion per year since the company's inception, with an actual investment of $6 billion in 2005 alone.

The company's most reliable network claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women throughout the country who inspired the "Can you hear me now? Good.®" national advertising campaign. These engineers conduct more than 750,000 voice call attempts and 1.4 million data tests quarterly on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling over 225,000 miles of the most frequently traveled roadways nationwide in specially equipped, company-owned quality test vehicles.

Test Man/Woman Ride-Along Program
Specially equipped Verizon Wireless test vehicles simultaneously test seven wireless providers, using a computerized program to generate phonically diverse "conversations" as well as data transmissions. Members of the media who are interested in setting up an interview ride-along with a local member of the Verizon Wireless team of real-life test men and women, are invited to contact Heidi Flato at 925-279-6545.
