Verizon Wireless Opens New Communications Store In The Bronx, New York

ORANGEBURG, NY — In response to the growing demand for the company's voice and data products and services, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, has opened its newest Communications Store in the Bay Plaza Shopping Center on Bartow Avenue in the Bronx.

The store is open Monday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store phone number is 718-671-2621.

To celebrate the grand opening of the Bay Plaza store, two of the area's hottest radio stations, Power 105.1 and La Kalle, will be broadcasting live from Verizon Wireless' newest location. Customers are invited to stop by the store on Friday, August 4, between 6 and 8 p.m. to enjoy the Hip Hop and R&B sounds of DJ Cherry Martinez. On Saturday, August 5, New York's official station for Reggaeton, La Kalle, will be on hand from 1 to 3 p.m. Grand opening activities will continue throughout the weekend with fun and games for the entire family.

Verizon Wireless has invested $2 billion to enhance its New York Metro area network and more than $30 billion across the nation in the past six years to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company's services, like two-way TXT Messaging, Picture Messaging and V CAST service which brings TV, music and other multimedia services to wireless phones over the company's high speed broadband wireless network.

Verizon Wireless was the first national wireless provider to commercially launch a high-speed wireless broadband network in the United States. The Bay Plaza store also participates in the company's HopeLine® phone recycling program. HopeLine collects no-longer-used wireless phones to be refurbished, recycled or sold; proceeds are donated to domestic violence advocacy groups or used to purchase wireless phones with airtime for use by victims. In addition to phones, service and voice mailboxes for victims, HopeLine includes funding for non-profit domestic violence organizations; community and corporate awareness initiatives; and a bilingual "Invest in Yourself" program designed to help prepare survivors to re-enter the workforce.
