GREEN BAY, WI — As pro football fans head to pre-season training camp at Clarke Hinkle Field and wonder how the Packers will fare this season, they won't have to worry about their Verizon Wireless service. As operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, Verizon Wireless has fine-tuned its network near Lambeau Field to handle the increased call volume and help fans stay connected while they're watching the action on the field.

In anticipation of more than 111,000 football fans descending on Packer training camp in Green Bay and the surrounding area, Verizon Wireless' network has its game face on and is ready to handle the increase in calls. To enhance regular coverage, the company recently increased capacity surrounding Lambeau Field to handle four times the normal demand.

This network enhancement will improve Verizon Wireless' network capacity in and around Lambeau Field enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently. The improvement also will enable customers to complete more calls, stay connected on those calls and experience clearer reception while talking on their wireless handsets, sending TXT and Picture Messages or downloading games and ring tones.

The recent network upgrade is part of Verizon Wireless' ongoing efforts to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Wisconsin and across the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years-$5 billion on average every year since the company was formed-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $30 million of this investment was spent in Wisconsin in 2005.

The company's most reliable wireless network claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign. These engineers conduct more than 750,000 voice call attempts and 1.4 million data tests quarterly on Verizon Wireless' and other national carriers' networks while traveling more than 225,000 miles in specially equipped, company-owned test vehicles.*

*Test Man Ride-Along Program Note to Editors and Reporters

Specially equipped Verizon Wireless test vehicles simultaneously test the networks of six wireless providers, using a mobile laptop computer to generate phonically diverse "conversations." If you are a member of the media interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your local Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact Carolyn Schamberger at 847-619-4282.
