DETROIT, MI — As baseball's biggest games get underway, Verizon Wireless, owner and operator of the nation's most reliable wireless network, is ready for major league action in both Detroit and St. Louis. Verizon Wireless works year-round to strengthen the reach and reliability of its wireless network, ensuring the company has cell sites and network equipment in place to handle the increase in call volume at special events, including the upcoming baseball series.

Compared to regular season games, Verizon Wireless call volume during last year's championship series doubled at the stadiums in both Chicago and Houston. Verizon Wireless expects to see a similar increase in call volume this year at both Comerica Park in Detroit and Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The company's network investment in each city has increased the strength of Verizon Wireless' network signal and added to its call capacity, helping to ensure that calls made before, during and after the big game are waved home safely.

"These upgrades mean more customers can keep in touch with friends and family during the games and share memorable pictures instantly," said Greg Haller, president—Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless.

Verizon Wireless is dedicated to delivering outstanding customer satisfaction by providing a positive wireless experience to its 54.8 million customers. The company has invested more than $30 billion nationally over the past six years to expand and upgrade the nation's most reliable wireless network.
