CHARLOTTE, NC — Verizon Wireless, a recognized corporate leader in the fight against domestic violence, has joined together with the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV) and the North Carolina Attorney General's office to collect old or unused cell phones at the November 13th Panthers vs. Buccaneers football game to support domestic violence initiatives across the state.

Fans attending the November 13th game can support the fight against domestic violence by bringing their old or unused cell phones, from any wireless provider, to the Panther's Lair located on the corner of Mint and Moorhead Street. The proceeds generated will benefit the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

"We encourage fans to participate in this phone drive because it will directly impact the statewide coalition's effort to serve battered women and their children," said Carly Culbertson, Public Relations Manager for Verizon Wireless' Carolinas/Tennessee Region. "North Carolina citizens should be proud of the Attorney General's dedication to end domestic violence and commitment to legislation and policies aimed at preventing domestic violence and protecting its victims."

Verizon Wireless' dedication to preventing domestic violence began in 1995 when the company introduced its HopeLine® program. Over the past 10 years, HopeLine has grown significantly and is now a multi-faceted program that includes a national phone recycling and re-use effort, financial support for local and national domestic violence prevention organizations, community and corporate awareness programs, and partnerships with law enforcement agencies, professional sports teams, educational institutions and corporations nationwide.
