ORANGEBURG, NY — Eighty children from New York City's Sanctuary for Families will be the guests of Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, at the annual New York Giants' kids clinic this Saturday, November 18, 2006.

Each year since 1996, Verizon Wireless and the Giants have hosted New York and New Jersey children for an afternoon of fun at Giants Stadium. Children will participate in 'training' activities with former Giants players; tour the practice bubble, locker room and stadium; and enjoy a buffet dinner.

"Our goal is to give kids, whose lives have been scarred by domestic violence, a few hours of fun and the opportunity to meet some great football players." said Charles Hand, president of Verizon Wireless' New York Metro Region. "Agencies like Sanctuary for Families do a great job providing children with a bed and a meal, but, but we hope this afternoon will give them a little something extra - a happy memory that will last forever."

Dedicated to the safety, healing and self-sufficiency of battered women and their children, Sanctuary for Families offers a broad range of high-quality services including shelter, legal assistance and counseling, and has become a model among domestic violence agencies for providing a range of culturally-sensitive and integrated services.

Verizon Wireless is a recognized corporate leader for its commitment to preventing domestic violence and raising awareness of the issue. The company's commitment began in 1995 when it introduced its HopeLine® program, which includes a successful phone recycling program and funding for non-profit domestic violence organizations; free wireless phones, service and voice mailboxes for survivors; community and corporate awareness initiatives; and a bilingual "Invest In Yourself" program designed to help survivors re-enter the workforce.
