COLUMBIA, MO — Verizon Wireless announced today it has expanded its service throughout central Missouri, giving local residents immediate access to the nation's most reliable wireless network. The launch of the network in central Missouri means that Verizon Wireless customers now have seamless coverage from St. Louis to Kansas City.

The company has invested more than $29 million in the expansion of its network and retail presence in central Missouri, including 80 new cell sites throughout the region, nine of which are on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. In addition to this year's investment in central Missouri, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $165 million over the last four years throughout Missouri to expand and enhance its network.

In Columbia, new coverage includes the entire city spanning north to the town of Switzer and south to Nifong Street, as well as extensive coverage on the campus of the University of Missouri. Customers traveling across the state will notice new coverage that extends from Kansas City into Columbia, connecting with the company's existing network coverage east of 'Tiger Country' along U.S. Interstate 70 into St. Louis.

In Jefferson City, new coverage includes State Highway 50 east to Kansas City, including Whiteman Air Force Base. Coverage has also been expanded to connect to Columbia along Highway 63.

Verizon Wireless has also expanded its coverage into other parts of central Missouri, including the counties of Lafayette, Saline, Howard, Johnson, Pettis and Cooper counties, as well as enhanced coverage in Ray County. Specifically, coverage was extended into the cities of Boonville, Fayette, Higginsville, Marshall, Richmond, Sedalia and Warrensburg.

With Verizon Wireless, local residents now have access to nationally recognized customer service and advanced features such as the Get It Now® virtual store. Verizon Wireless customers can simply download applications to their handsets - such as ring tones, games and more - over the air and purchase them directly from their phones. Central Missouri residents can also subscribe to Verizon Wireless' NationalAccess, enabling Verizon Wireless customers to access the Internet, e-mail, attachments and business applications from a laptop with a NationalAccess card.

The new coverage also gives residents the convenience of the IN Network, which provides customers the ability to talk and send messages to other Verizon Wireless subscribers for free.

"We welcome residents of Columbia and Jefferson City to the nation's most reliable network," said Mark Crumpton, president—Kansas/Missouri Region, Verizon Wireless. "We are always working to increase our network coverage and reliability, and our expansion throughout central Missouri is an important part of this commitment. Local residents, businesses and visitors now have access to all of the benefits of Verizon Wireless, including local points of purchase."

In addition to a new company-owned store on North Stadium Drive at West Ash Street in Columbia, and the company-operated kiosk within the Circuit City store on Bernadette Drive in Columbia, several retail outlets throughout central Missouri now provide residents with Verizon Wireless products and services. These outlets include RAM Telecom stores, and select Best Buy, Target and Wal-Mart locations.

To welcome new customers, Verizon Wireless is offering the popular Motorola V3m RAZR for $49.99, after a $50 mail-in rebate. Also, Verizon Wireless offers free activation on all lines - a $25-to-$35 savings per line of service. Offers are for a limited time only.
