ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Today's official dedication of the new Verizon Wireless Customer Service and Wireless Data Technical Support Center supports the company's commitment to providing the best customer service in the wireless industry.

The opening of the new center also caps a year of a significant expansion of the wireless company's presence in New Mexico, including new jobs for the Albuquerque community.

A growing, thriving business
Verizon Wireless is the wireless leader in customer loyalty and is rated at the top of more third-party surveys of customer satisfaction than any of its competitors.

The company continues to expand its customer service capabilities both in New Mexico and nationally to serve its growing number of customers. Verizon Wireless recently announced plans for new customer service centers to open in late 2007 in Huntsville, Alabama and Lincoln, Nebraska.

Now hiring in Albuquerque: continued job growth
Verizon Wireless has added approximately 800 new full-time data technical support and customer service positions in Albuquerque already this year.

The company is continuing to recruit and hire employees who have a passion for outstanding customer service. There are also opportunities in sales.

By the end of next year, Verizon Wireless expects to employ more than 1,700 people in New Mexico in a variety of positions including data technical support, customer service, sales and network.

State-of-the-art facility
Verizon Wireless invested $30 million in its Albuquerque center to transform an abandoned building and provide the latest technologies and amenities for employees.

The single-story building is nearly the size of four football fields and features state-of-the-art information technologies, ergonomic equipment and training facilities. It also has an on-site Health and Wellness Center, a mothers' room and a café.

Investing in network reliability and new technologies
Verizon Wireless has invested more than $150 million in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas in the past five years — part of its $35 billion nationwide network investment over the last seven years — to ensure network reliability and expanded coverage, capacity and capabilities.

In October, Verizon Wireless launched its broadband wireless data network in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Earlier this month, the Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network expanded into Gallup and Farmington. The same service will launch in Las Cruces and Alamogordo by year-end.

More locations to better serve customers
In 2006, Verizon Wireless added four new company owned- and operated- retail locations to better serve New Mexico customers.

Two new locations in Albuquerque, one in Santa Fe and one in Las Cruces provide additional convenient locations for customers to shop for cool new phones, PDAs and accessories. Highly trained representatives in the stores are also available to provide technical support and customer service for customers.

Verizon Wireless now has 13 owned- and operated- retail locations in New Mexico, including Verizon Wireless in Circuit City.
