ALBANY, NY — In response to growing demand for the company's voice and data services, Verizon Wireless has expanded its flagship Communications Store in Albany, New York. The newly reopened store, located at 1770 Central Avenue, has been redesigned to make wireless shopping more convenient and to provide greater access to customer and technical support services.

The new store is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 am — 9:30 pm, and Sunday from 10:00 am — 6:00 pm. The telephone number is 518-452-8491. The store employs 32 people. Verizon Wireless Communications Stores offer a premier line of digital wireless phones in all price ranges, data services and accessories.

As part of the store's reopening celebration, Verizon Wireless will donate $2,500 to Albany's Equinox Domestic Violence Services to benefit local domestic violence victims. The donation will come from the company's HopeLine® Foundation. HopeLine is Verizon Wireless' exclusive nationwide phone recycling program. Marking its 12th year in 2007, the HopeLine program distributes previously owned wireless phones to victims of domestic violence, supports non-profit domestic violence advocacy groups, and provides an environmentally safe method for recycling phones.

No longer used phones are collected and either recycled or sold for parts, with wireless phones and/or monetary donations benefiting domestic violence agencies and victims. Since the HopeLine phone recycling efforts began in 2001, consumers have donated more than 3.5 million phones to HopeLine, more than 600,000 phones have been recycled, and more than $2 million in cash grants has been awarded. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $35 billion — on average, $5 billion every year since the company was formed seven years ago — to increase coverage and capacity, and to offer customers the most reliable service available in the nation, including wireless data services such as Picture Messaging, TXT Messaging, and the company's exclusive VCAST service. VCAST brings TV and other multimedia services to wireless phones over Verizon Wireless' high-speed BroadbandAccess wireless network, which offers customers the fastest, most widely available broadband wireless network in the nation, operating at average speeds between 400-700 kbps.
