What:
The first public appearance of Verizon Wireless' "Sundancer" the COLT (Cell on Light Truck) mobile cell site.

Sundancer the COLT is a self-contained mobile cell site bred specifically for rapid, and short-term network response. The COLT rides out to enhance wireless coverage so that emergency response teams and other Verizon Wireless customers can make more calls.

When:
Friday, January 19, 2007
Media Preview, 4:30 p.m.
Public Viewing, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where:
US Airways Center (Plaza), 201 E. Jefferson St., Phoenix

Why:
Verizon Wireless uses Sundancer to charge up its network when there is a natural disaster or other unplanned event that calls for additional cell coverage and capacity. The company may also roll out the COLT to large events in the community in anticipation of a stampede of increased call volume.

Sundancer first joined Verizon Wireless' talented stable of mobile cell sites in 2004. New for 2007, Sundancer has a customized new coat featuring a cowboy boot texture and stitching. Sundancer takes its name from the 30 and 60 ft. tall poles (masts) that extend from the top that dance up into the Southwest sky.
