The Florida-based test vehicle on display is driven by one of Verizon Wireless' real-life test men and women, company-employed and -trained engineers who are the basis of the company's iconic national test man advertising campaign. Verizon Wireless operates a fleet of specially equipped, company-owned and -operated vehicles, which travel with computers that test the Verizon Wireless network and the networks of major competitors in the company's markets nationwide. The data more than 3 million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually is used not only to compare Verizon Wireless' network performance against competitors', but also to help engineers plan the company's annual network improvement program, including placement of new cell sites and expansion of existing call capabilities in growing communities. Their testing forms the basis for the company's claim that it operates the nation's most reliable wireless network.
