LINCOLN, NE — Verizon Wireless announced today it has named Bonnie A. Edwards director of Customer Service for the new Customer Service Center scheduled to open in Lincoln in late 2007. She will report to Louis Sigillo, vice president Midwest Area Customer Service.
In her new role, Edwards will direct and manage the overall activities of the new Verizon Wireless Customer Service Center in Lincoln, which will employ 800 people when fully staffed. The center primarily will provide customer support for the five-state Great Plains Region and also will handle customer calls from the rest of the 15-state Midwest Area for questions on billing, price-plan changes, voice and data products and equipment.
"Bonnie's extensive experience, proven track record and strong focus on putting the customer first make her the right person to lead our new Customer Service Center," said Sigillo. "I look forward to the new Lincoln center opening later this year and to a strong partnership with the Lincoln community."
Most recently, Edwards served as associate director of quality assurance for Verizon Wireless' Midwest Area Customer Service organization. Edwards has been with Verizon Wireless and its legacy companies for 10 years. Her career includes positions of increasing responsibility as associate director of the Southfield, Mich., Customer Service Center, in customer service operations and project management roles, as a marketing pricing analyst and a customer care supervisor. Prior to joining the wireless industry, she managed Customer Service Centers for Crain Communications and Petrie/Winkelman's Retail Stores in Michigan.
She earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Chadwick University in Birmingham, Ala. Edwards and her husband, Clayton, will be relocating to Lincoln later this year.
