Columbia, SC — In response to growing demand for the company's voice and data services, Verizon Wireless has opened a new, full-service communications store in Northeast Columbia. Verizon Wireless kicks-off the official grand opening week May 5th-12th. The new Columbia Verizon Wireless store, located at 10110 Two Notch Road, in front of Lowe's, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 8th at 1 p.m., with Columbia City officials.

In honor of the Verizon Wireless HopeLine program — a program long dedicated to putting wireless products to work to combat domestic violence — Verizon Wireless will donate $1,000 to Sistercare, a non-profit organization the serves victims of domestic violence and their children in Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry and Richland counties.

"Our goal is to serve as a safe place for victims in our community because domestic abuse devastates both adults and children." said Kathleen Shaw, Development Director for Sistercare. "Verizon Wireless' advocacy of domestic violence prevention and the financial contributions they make to organizations like ours help us thrive and enhance the services we offer to the community."

The check presentation will take place in conjunction with the ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 8th at 1 p.m. In addition to the community donation, to celebrate the grand opening of the new Columbia store, Verizon Wireless is offering customers a chance to win a free Samsung SCH-u740 phone, a slim, sleek and stylish messaging device with a dual-hinge, loaded with hot features, such as V CAST, V CAST Music, and fabulous tools like VZ NavigatorSM, all packaged within a smooth slider design.

Additional grand opening initiatives May 1st- May 30th include 1,000 Bonus Minutes with a new 2-year activation and a waived activation fee, Free Phone Day on May 5th (any phones that are $49.99 or lower after mail-in-rebate are free with a 2-year contract on a new line with a calling plan of $39.99 or higher) as well as live broadcasts by WHXT-FM on Saturday, May 5th from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. and WCOS-FM on Tuesday, May 8th from Noon-2 p.m.

The new Columbia store features the full range of Verizon Wireless products and services and is fully staffed for customer service and technical support, allowing customers to speak with Verizon Wireless' highly trained representatives about all of their wireless needs.

The new store also features:

  • A top-of-the-line self-service center with bill payment kiosk
  • An informational video displayed on an LCD screen that provides customers with information on the latest handsets and accessories, the Verizon Wireless network, wireless tips, roadside assistance, customer service, account management options and much more.

Store hours for the new Northeast Columbia store are Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Store manager Ivon Wright will lead the Columbia sales team.
