Registration For Verizon Wireless Corporate Classic Underway

BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Registration is now open for the second annual Verizon Wireless Corporate Classic, New Jersey's premier summer fitness event for corporate teams and individuals. The 5K corporate race will be held in downtown Morristown on Thursday evening, July 19, 2007, with proceeds benefiting Jersey Battered Women's Service.

The Verizon Wireless Corporate Classic offers an evening of fun for anyone interested in fitness, from corporate teams to individual runners and walkers, including students, area residents and their friends and families.

"We expect to draw some of the state's fastest competitive runners," said Mark Monteyne, head coach at Verizon, "but the event is really about fitness and fun for everyone — racers, joggers, walkers and their fans."

For the past 18 years, Morristown has hosted an annual footrace for employee teams from New Jersey corporations. Last year, Verizon Wireless sponsored the event for the first time. "Employee health and wellness is important to us, so we are pleased to continue this tradition," Monteyne said.

Jersey Battered Women's Service, beneficiary of the race again this year, is a non-profit organization in Morris County that provides a range of life-saving and life-rebuilding services to victims of domestic violence and their families. Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine^® program, the company recycles and donates wireless phones and service to victims, and provides financial grants to non-profit domestic violence advocacy agencies.
