HONOLULU, HI — Schools looking for an easy new way to raise money for special programs have a new solution — the Verizon Wireless School Fundraising Program.  With each new wireless activation by one of its members on a one or two year contract, Verizon Wireless pays $25 to the participating organization.

"We have been thrilled to participate in the program that helps all children and faculty.  We are now able to help pay for our tutoring program, school supplies, as well as insurance costs related to school events," said DeeDee Chock, Kapaa Middle School PTSA leader.

The program is open to all non-profit organizations affiliated with K-12 schools, both public and private.  Enrollment is fast, easy and free: the organization's administrator submits a one-time enrollment form and IRS Form W-9.  That's it.  After enrollment, Verizon Wireless provides all the necessary promotional materials to the organization at no cost.

"With today's busy families activating multiple lines of service, it's easy for a single family to generate $100 for their school's organization under this program," said Mark Yamauchi, director of sales for Hawaii.  "It is truly a great way for school-affiliated organizations, like bands, sports clubs, and parent booster clubs to raise money for their cause.  It's also a way for us to make a difference in our community."
