MUNCIE, IN — Verizon Wireless, the only major carrier with a 30-day network Test Drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier, has activated a new cell site in Albany that expands network coverage, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones to make calls; send and receive e-mail and TXT, Picture and Video Messages; and download games and Ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

With this new cell site, Verizon Wireless customers in Albany now also have access to the Internet and to their e-mail and corporate data at faster speeds, uploading files eight to nine times faster than before as Verizon Wireless rolls out its next-generation high-speed broadband network to the area.

This new cell site improves Verizon Wireless' voice and data network in Albany; along State Road 67 between Muncie and Red Key; along State Road 167 between Albany and Dunkirk; and along East Eaton Albany Pike between Albany and Eaton.

"Network reliability is the No. 1 reason that customers choose and stay with Verizon Wireless," said Greg Haller, president — Indiana/Kentucky/Michigan region, Verizon Wireless. "Getting through on the first try and maintaining a connection are important to our customers. We continue to optimize our network so that it remains reliable."

Verizon Wireless recently introduced its 30-day Test Drive, an industry first that lets customers experience its network virtually risk-free for 30 days. If customers are not satisfied with their experience and take their number to another carrier, Verizon Wireless will refund their money for calls, equipment, activation fee and taxes.

The network improvement is part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $37 billion in the last seven years — $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed — to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $732 million of this investment was spent in Indiana.
