BASKING RIDGE, NJ, and CULVER CITY, CA — Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the most reliable voice and data network, today announced the launch of God of War: Betrayal, the wireless game version of the popular Sony Computer Entertainment America franchise. God of War: Betrayal, available now to Verizon Wireless Get It Now® customers, will allow mobile gamers to play as Kratos, the feared Spartan warrior, in his campaign as the new God of War.

In this first installment of the God of War mobile series, that begins after the events of the first PlayStation® 2 title, Kratos wages a bloody campaign as he is unfairly accused of betraying the Olympians. The fury of the Gods rain down upon him and Kratos must clear his name and win back the favor of Olympus. God of War: Betrayal, which features a cutting-edge mobile character animation engine, allows wireless gamers to fight in true God of War combat, including with Blades of Chaos, Blade of Artemis and other proprietary ammunition, from the famed console series.

"We are committed to bringing to market innovative mobile properties and the launch of God of War: Betrayal is testament to that dedication," said Eric Berger, vice president of mobile entertainment, Sony Pictures Television. "By bringing this popular Sony Computer Entertainment America title to Verizon Wireless customers, we will both expand the franchise to gamers on the mobile platform, and provide a thrilling and satisfying gaming experience to the existing God of War fans."

God of War: Betrayal throws mobile gamers into intense combat action. Players can engage in a wide assortment of battles including combo attacks on the ground or in the air, freezing enemies and summoning the Army of Hades to unleash the fury of the underworld. Gamers can also attack their enemies while climbing walls or hanging from a rope over deadly chasms. During these battles, players trade in experience orbs to upgrade weapons and magic attacks. The game features animated foreground and background elements, deadly traps like saw blades, bottomless pits, jagging spikes and more.
