Sundancer the Cell on Light Truck (COLT) was rerouted from the nearly fully contained Chitty Fire in eastern Arizona to help provide support for the zero percent contained Birdie Fire. Earlier this summer Sundancer was deployed to provide wireless coverage for the Promontory Fire.

Verizon Wireless maintains a fleet of COLTs and Cells on Wheels (COWs) for emergency response. The COLT is bred specifically for rapid and short-term network response and enables emergency response teams and other Verizon Wireless customers to make more calls. COLTs can process thousands of calls every hour in the event cell sites or other key communications equipment are damaged or disabled by a community disaster.
