COLUMBIA, MO — Verizon Wireless is teaming up with The Shelter, a domestic violence and sexual assault victims services program based in Columbia, Mo., to hold a back-to-school backpack drive, benefiting local children who are victims of domestic violence. Members of the community can drop off backpack donations August 8-19 at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 303 North Stadium Boulevard during normal business hours. Children at The Shelter need backpacks of all sizes for the school year.

"Verizon Wireless is committed to serving the local community in Columbia," said Lynn Heath, Verizon Wireless store manager in Columbia. "We are happy to provide an opportunity for members of the community to help children at The Shelter for the upcoming school year."

From August 8-19, backpack donations can be dropped off at the Verizon Wireless store Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. or Sunday, noon-5:00 p.m.
