BASKING RIDGE, NJ and VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, and Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) today announced the availability of the Sierra Wireless AirCard® 595U USB modem for use with Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess service. Customers may purchase the 595U modem today online at www.verizonwireless.com and through Verizon Wireless' business sales channels. The 595U modem will be in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores including those in Circuit City on August 30.

Designed to provide customers access to Verizon Wireless' Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A (EV-DO Rev. A) network, the AirCard 595U modem is compatible with USB ports on most notebook and desktop computers. The modem can also be connected through the included docking cradle, which provides an alternative for customers without PCMCIA card slots.

Since Verizon Wireless' entire wireless broadband network operates on advanced EV-DO Rev. A technology, BroadbandAccess customers using the AirCard 595U modem can expect average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. With these speeds a customer can typically download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment in about eight seconds and upload the same-sized file in less than 13 seconds. The AirCard 595U modem comes with VZAccess Manager software, which is compatible with Windows® 2000, XP and Vista operating systems. The AirCard 595U modem also features an internal, removable battery to ensure there is always enough power support to handle peak or fringe area transmission requirements.

Pricing and Availability
The AirCard 595U modem is available for $179.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year customer agreement. Customers can get BroadbandAccess service for unlimited Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access for $59.99 monthly access with a new one- or two-year customer agreement.
