ORANGEBURG, NY — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, announced today that the company has been recognized for the "Highest Call Quality Performance Among Wireless Cell Phone Users in the New York Metro region," in the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Wireless Call Quality Performance StudySM Volume 2.
The J.D. Power and Associates Wireless Call Quality Performance Study employs a call quality index based on seven criteria that impact overall carrier performance. The wireless phone subscribers surveyed were asked about their experiences with dropped calls, static/interference, failed connection on the first try, voice distortion, echoes, no immediate voice mail notification, and no immediate text message notification. Verizon Wireless also ranked highest in Volume 1 of the Call Quality Performance Study, issued in March.

The company's 'most reliable wireless voice and data network' claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and women. The engineers conduct more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks. Verizon Wireless has spent $130 million during the first six months of the year to enhance wireless services and coverage throughout the New York Metro area, bringing the cumulative network investment in the region to more than $2 billion since 2000.
