HONOLULU, HI — Wireless users on the big island of Hawaii are now experiencing increased coverage along the Mamalahoa Highway, thanks to a new Verizon Wireless cell site. The enhancement also benefits surrounding areas, including Laupahoehoe Gulch.

"Our expansion in Hawaii is tied to our commitment to provide the best possible wireless experience for customers as they choose and use our service," said Mark Yamauchi, director of Hawaii sales for Verizon Wireless.

In an industry first, Verizon Wireless puts customers in the driver's seat to take the nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network for a spin. The company is the only major carrier with a 30-day network test drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $157 million in its wireless network in Hawaii over the past seven years to stay ahead of the growth in demand for our products and services, to ensure the most reliable network in the industry, to ensure the most reliable network in the industry, and to add new capabilities, like wireless Internet access at broadband speeds and mobile music downloads.

The company has invested more than $40 billion since 2000 when the company was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services.
