St. Louis Park, MN — Verizon Wireless, the only major carrier with a 30-day network test-drive pledge that pays for calls if a customer isn't satisfied and switches to another carrier, opened its first Communications Store in St. Louis Park today, bringing the latest products and services of the company that operates the nation's most reliable network closer to area consumers. The company has also filled 10 new positions at the store.

The new 1,993-square-foot store located at 8504 State Highway 7 is the first company-owned Verizon Wireless store in St. Louis Park, and is one of the first in Minnesota to showcase a new and highly interactive retail concept that is a departure from Verizon Wireless' traditional retail store design.

Customers can pickup and try wireless devices and experience on-demand access to short news, weather, sports and entertainment video clips; more than 2.5 million downloadable songs; and cutting-edge 3D games; as well as coveted phones and PDAs. The store also features accessories such as Bluetooth headsets and wireless cards and modems for laptops, and allows customers to view products and services on interactive television screens.

"This new store reflects our ongoing commitment to provide our customers with increased convenience and an accessible and knowledgeable sales staff," said Nancy B. Clark, president—Great Plains Region,Verizon Wireless. "Consumer demand for our wireless service continues to grow as our network upgrades provide new, more sophisticated services for our customers."

Matthew Rathjen has been named retail store manager for the new Verizon Wireless Communications Store in St. Louis Park. Rathjen has been with Verizon Wireless for more than three years and most recently served as the Verizon Wireless Eden Prairie Center store manager.

The following employees also have been named to positions in the St. Louis Park store: Andrew Burk and Jeffrey Demers, assistant retail store managers; Matthew Becker, Randy Clark, Lindsay Goodermont, retail sales representatives; Taylor Nelson, Josef Shilkrot, Jay Sjovall, customer service representatives; and Amanda Tryggestad, assistant retail sales operations.
