Guitar Hero III Capital District Showdown To Be Held At Clifton Park Center Mall In New York

ALBANY, NY — Verizon Wireless is partnering with the Shelter Skate Shop and Park to hold a Guitar Hero III Capital District Showdown on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6 at 12:00 pm at the Clifton Park Center Mall. Open to Capital District young adults, this fun weekend of head-to-head guitar battles offers the chance to win cash, great prizes, and the Capital District Guitar Hero III Crown.

"The Guitar Hero III Capital District Showdown is a great opportunity for the community to get involved and showcase their musical talent," said Larry Franchini, Verizon Wireless district manager.

Throughout the Showdown, Verizon Wireless will also collect used wireless phones in support of its HopeLine® program. Through HopeLine, these phones will be refurbished and recycled or sold. Proceeds will be used to purchase wireless phones for use by domestic violence victims in emergency or threatening situations. HopeLine also makes financial grants to domestic violence organizations.

Collection boxes will be available on site on the days of the event. Verizon Wireless pledges to donate one phone to the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services of Saratoga County for every 10 phones received, and has committed to donating a minimum of 20 phones.

Phone donations are accepted at all Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in the Upstate New York area, and at 2,400 company retail locations across the country. Participants are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation in support of the Food Bank Association of New York.
