ROMEOVILLE, IL — Verizon Wireless will open its first Communications Store in Romeoville, Ill., on May 30, 2008, at 395 South Weber Road, bringing to local consumers the coolest wireless phones and newest technology operating on the nation's most reliable network.

Tucked within Romeoville's newest shopping hot spot, among the company of a Target and Chase Bank, the new, 3,256 square-foot store showcases a new and highly-interactive retail concept that is a departure from Verizon Wireless' traditional retail store design. Customers can pick up and try more than 80 functioning wireless phones and experience on-demand access to more than 3 million downloadable songs, Mobile TV, cutting-edge 3D games, short news, weather, sports, and entertainment video clips. The store also features accessories such as Bluetooth® headsets as well wireless cards and modems for laptops and interactive television screens.

"Residents in the Romeoville area will now have much easier accessibility to the exceptional products and services that Verizon Wireless customers deserve and expect, operating on the nation's most reliable network," said T.J. Fox, president — Illinois/Wisconsin region, Verizon Wireless. "This new retail concept is the blueprint for an entirely new approach to customer service, and it delivers a shopping experience currently not offered by any other wireless provider."

Ricardo Moncayo of Lake in the Hills, Ill., has been named store manager, with Todd Weber of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Andrea Escalante of Villa Park, Ill., named assistant managers of the new store. In addition, seven employees have been recently hired by Verizon Wireless to fill the store's new retail positions. They are:

  • Jeremy Dioe of Arlington Heights — retail sales representative
  • Miles Good of Naperville — retail sales representative
  • Brian Jackson of Lisle — retail sales representative
  • Jason Jones of Hazel Crest — retail sales representative
  • Raquel Shane of Downers Grove — customer service representative
  • Natalie Ward of Joliet — customer service representative

Verizon Wireless' Communications Store in Romeoville is open Monday though Saturday 9 a.m. — 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. — 6 p.m. The store's phone number is (815) 838-6266.
