BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Verizon Wireless customers can now save trees and can get new trees planted too by signing up for Verizon Wireless' Green Bill, the company's paperless billing option. Beginning July 1, Verizon Wireless will plant a tree for each customer who registers for Green Bill and Auto Bill Pay by October 1.

Verizon Wireless' Green Bill allows customers to eliminate monthly mailings, save postage costs and reduce paper usage while viewing bills that can portray account information in a variety of formats through My Verizon, Verizon Wireless' online account management site. Customers who register for Green Bill and Auto Bill Pay at www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon will receive a certificate and a thank you note stating that a tree is being planted in an American forest on their behalf. The trees will be planted by American Forests, the nation's oldest nonprofit citizens conservation group, which has been planting trees to restore forest ecosystems throughout the U.S. since 1875.

"We thought this offer would be a great way to help customers simplify their lives using Green Bill, while also doing something good for the environment," said Joe Saracino, Verizon Wireless vice president — marketing. "It also will help customers get better acquainted with My Verizon, our online account management site, where they can get so much more information about their wireless account — and use online functions to analyze their usage — than they can from any paper bill."

New and existing My Verizon customers who are not already registered for Green Bill and Auto Bill Pay can do so by logging on to My Verizon at www.verizonwireless.com/myverizon.
