LAS VEGAS, NV — The University of Nevada Las Vegas has won the Verizon Wireless "Remix2Win with Linkin Park" national contest thanks to Valerie Cossio, Class of 2009, who submitted the winning remix.

Cossio's prize, as a representative of UNLV, is a private Linkin Park concert for 2,000 of her fellow Rebels. The concert will be held at The Joint in Las Vegas on Oct. 6, 2008, and those who attend will also hear Cossio's winning remixes of Linkin Park's hit songs "Crawling" and "In the End."

The "Remix2Win with Linkin Park" contest
The contest ran throughout Linkin Park's highly successful Projekt Revoloution tour. It encouraged fans to create their own mixes of the band's classics: "Bleed It Out," "What I've Done," "In the End" and others using Verizon Wireless' Remix2Win application.

The resulting remixes could then be posted on the creator's Facebook® profile or shared with friends by e-mail. The 20 colleges with the most submissions became finalists, and Linkin Park handpicked the best mix based on quality.

"We're always looking for new ways to connect with our fans and this was an opportunity for a unique collaboration," says Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington. "Valerie did an amazing job of interpreting the songs, and we're looking forward to performing for her and a few thousand of her closest friends."

"The Remix2Win contest was yet another example of the ways Verizon Wireless is using mobile technology to help artists interact with their fans," said Ed Ruth, director of digital music for Verizon. "Not only were the remix contestants able to express their creativity and share it with their friends through social networking, they were also able to create a lasting piece of music for themselves."
