INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Verizon Wireless has activated 15 new cell sites that expand network coverage along Interstate 74, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make voice calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

Now, Verizon Wireless provides continuous coverage along Interstate 74 from Indianapolis to the Illinois state line. These new cell sites also improve the company's voice and data network coverage along U.S. Highway 231 in northern Montgomery County and in the following towns:

  • Crawfordsville
  • Hillsboro
  • Linden
  • Veedersburg
  • Waynetown

These new cell sites are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Indiana and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $48 billion since it was formed-$5.5 billion on average every year-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $931 million of this investment has been spent in Indiana since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $136 million in Indiana network improvements.
