CHANDLER, AZ — The Verizon Wireless network is game-ready for the thousands of basketball fans who will flock to town this weekend. Local technicians have been hard at work on the Verizon Wireless network to ensure peak performance, including:

  • Deployment of two Cells on Wheels (COWs) in downtown Phoenix to handle hundreds of additional phone calls and data transmissions simultaneously; and
  • Expansion of voice and high-speed data channels in sites located throughout downtown, near US Airways Center and in areas throughout the Valley where game-related activities will take place.

“Customers can rely on Verizon Wireless to make calls, send photo and video messages, connect to the Internet with PC cards, and navigate around the Valley,” said Tony Heyman, regional president, Verizon Wireless. “We are committed to ensuring that our network lives up to its excellent reputation for everyday use and during major events like this.”

Verizon Wireless’ ongoing network investment now totals more than $755 million in Arizona and more than $50 billion nationally over the past eight years.
