CANEY CREEK, TN — Businesses, residents and visitors to Cherokee National Forest are enjoying improved service in Caney Creek, TN, thanks to a new Verizon Wireless cell site that was recently added to the area.

The site expands 3G wireless coverage in Caney Creek, east on Highway 64 from the Lake Ocoee area and improves service on Highway 30 North.

The increase in network coverage and capacity means more calls, e-mails, texts and picture messages, plus expanded wireless access to the Web.

"As the state's leading wireless carrier, Verizon Wireless is dedicated to our customers and are frequently enhancing our network in order to provide the highest quality of service," said Jerry Fountain, president of Verizon Wireless' Carolinas/Tennessee Region. "Wireless customers today understand that value is not defined by price alone. A main reason consumers choose Verizon Wireless, and stay with us, is because we offer the nation's most reliable network."

In fact, all Verizon Wireless data and voice services are available to Tennesseans in all 95 counties. In 2008 alone, Verizon Wireless invested $150 million in the Tennessee network, bringing the company's cumulative investment in the state to over $700 million since 2003. This recent cell site addition is part of the $50 billion capital investment Verizon Wireless has made in its network since it was formed in 2000.

Verizon Wireless operates the nation's largest, most reliable 3G network* that powers services such as Mobile Broadband and e-mail. Verizon Wireless tests its network and those of its competitors in 90 specially equipped vehicles that drive 1,000,000 miles annually. The company determines if voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and if they stay connected.

Verizon Wireless' real-life test men and women drive on Interstate, U.S. and state highways, as well as major roads and streets in high-population areas, based upon U.S. Census counts. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

To meet customers' increasing demand for wireless products and services in this growing community, Verizon Wireless products can be found at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 560 Paul Huff Parkway, Cleveland, TN 37312, (423) 559-1942.
