WALNUT CREEK, CA — Mustangs are back on campus and the Verizon Wireless network is there with them. Verizon Wireless engineers were hard at work throughout the spring and summer improving call quality and network performance in and around California Polytechnic State University campus.

Recent network improvements in California Polytechnic State University area include a new cell site which boosts coverage along Stenner Creek Road, east on Pinnacles Road, Via Carta Road and Perimeter Road and west on Highway 1 from the Stenner Creek Road/Highway 1 intersection. The new cell site will enable more students to make calls; send e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones.

These network enhancements will also further enable Verizon Wireless' network to handle increased call volume as college football fans head to Alex G. Spanos Stadium to watch the Mustangs take the field throughout the season.

The recent network upgrades at California Polytechnic State University and at college campuses nationwide are part of Verizon Wireless' ongoing efforts to expand coverage, increase capacity, and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network. In California, Verizon Wireless invested $884 million in 2008. Nationally, the company has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed in 2000 — $5.5 billion on average every year.
