CONWAY, AR — Verizon Wireless recently announced the opening of a new evolutionary communications store in Conway, Ark. The grand opening celebration will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Conway Chamber of Commerce on Friday, October 23 at 2 p.m., followed by a weekend full of free food, fun and special promotions including free phones and significant discounts on accessories.

In the new store, located at 855 E. Oak, high-tech meets hands-on with a dedicated demo zone with more than 55 working models of handsets, PC cards and other devices. Customers can explore, experiment and learn using interactive touch-screens or be guided by knowledgeable and friendly wireless professionals.

"As Conway continues to grow, we are seeing more residents choose Verizon Wireless as their wireless service provider," says Grant Laisure, district manager for Verizon Wireless. "Our newest communications store will provide our customers with the best wireless devices and technology and the added confidence of America's largest and most reliable voice and data network."

During the ribbon cutting ceremony and in conjunction with the company's HopeLine domestic violence prevention initiative, Verizon Wireless officials will present a $1,000 donation to the Women's Shelter of Central Arkansas, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness month. This weekend and year round, customers are encouraged to donate their old wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any service provider to support HopeLine.

Phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse, and those that are not salvageable are recycled in an environmentally sound way under a zero landfill policy. Proceeds generated from the phones collected by HopeLine are put toward wireless phones and service for survivors of domestic violence as well as financial grants to local non-profit domestic violence advocacy agencies.

Since HopeLine's national phone recycling and re-use program was launched in 2001, Verizon Wireless has collected more than six million phones and awarded more than $6.3 million in cash grants to domestic violence agencies and organizations throughout the country.

The Conway store hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about Verizon Wireless please visit www.verizonwireless.com.
