PEEBLES, OH — Verizon Wireless, the wireless company with the largest 3G network, has activated four new cell sites in Adams County, Ohio, which enable more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; view high quality videos; access the Internet; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new cell sites improve coverage in the following areas:

  • In Peebles and along State Route 32 (Appalachian Highway) from State Route 41 northeast to County Road 127 (Black Hollow Road);
  • In Jessup and surrounding areas bounded by State Route 785 (County Road 3) in the north, Buck Run Road (County Road 37) in the south, State Route 770 in the east and State Route 136 in the west; and
  • In downtown Manchester and surrounding areas, including U.S. Highway 52 as far as County Road 2 in the east and Owl Hollow in the west.

“We’ve always believed even the most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We continue to aggressively invest in our Ohio network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers, add new services, and maintain our 3G network leadership,” said Roger Tang, president–Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless.

This network improvement is part of Verizon Wireless’ continual effort to expand coverage, improve capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Ohio and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed—$5.5 billion on average every year—to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. In the first nine months of this year, the company invested nearly $240 million in its Ohio network.
