DES MOINES, IA — Verizon Wireless has activated three new cell sites in Denison, Griswold and Ruthven, Iowa, that expand network coverage, enabling more customers in the area to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

These new cell sites improve coverage as follows:

  • Denison—the new cell site improves coverage within the town of Denison and north on State Highway 39 to H Avenue; south to County Road E59; east on U.S. Highway 30 to N Avenue; and west on State Highway 141 to 200th Street.
  • Griswold—the new cell site, located in southeast Pottawattamie County west of the town of Griswold near the intersection of 490th Street and State Highway 92, improves coverage north to U.S. Highway 6; south to the Montgomery County line; east to Griswold; and west to Carson.
  • Ruthven—the new cell site located near the intersection of U.S. Highway 18 and County Road N18 improves coverage in Ruthven and at the Lost Island Lake area. Coverage is also improved north to Terrill; south to County Road B53; east on U.S. Highway 18 to State Highway 4; and west on U.S. Highway 18 to County Road M54.

“Together, these network expansions reflect our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high-quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless,” said Nancy Clark, president–Great Plains Region, Verizon Wireless. “We continue to optimize our network so that it remains the most reliable in the nation.”

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $55 billion since it was formed—$5.5 billion on average every year—to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services. In 2009 alone, the company invested $7 billion to expand and advance its network.
